Legal Information | wordixa

This page contains the legal information that wordixa publishes about itself and about the website through which it offers professional training in media feeds, live signal management, camera work, content distribution and the operation of news and television control rooms. It explains who operates the site, how the business is registered in the United Kingdom, what you may and may not do with the material published here, and which policies apply when you book a course, attend a session or contact us. Please read it together with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, the Terms and Conditions and the Payment and Refund Policy referred to at the end of this page.

1. About This Legal Information Page

This page is the legal notice for the website operated by wordixa. It is written in plain English and is intended to give you a realistic picture of who you are dealing with, what you can expect from the site, and what happens if something goes wrong. It is not marketing material, and it does not replace the individual policies that govern specific situations.

Where this page and another document both deal with the same subject, the more specific document applies to that subject. The Terms and Conditions govern the contract between us when you book a course; the Privacy Policy governs how we handle personal data; the Cookie Policy explains what is stored on your device; and the Payment and Refund Policy sets out how payments, cancellations and refunds are handled. This page explains the background against which all of those documents operate.

We review this page regularly. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed. If a change is significant, we will draw attention to it on this page, and continued use of the website after the change means that you accept the updated version.

2. Identity of the Website Operator and Its Role

wordixa operates this commercial website as a provider of specialised training courses. Our teaching covers the central hub for media feeds: professional video operation, live signal management, content distribution, camera work, and the creation of reliable, high-quality feeds for news programmes and television broadcasting. Courses therefore include multi-camera operation, vision mixing and switching, routing and monitoring of live signals, contribution and distribution links, camera operating technique, and the workflows and standards used in broadcast control rooms, galleries, studios and streaming environments.

Our role in relation to this website is threefold. First, we are the publisher of the site: we decide what content appears here and we are responsible for its accuracy and legality. Second, we are the provider of the training services described on the site: the courses are designed, delivered and sold by us. Third, we are the controller of the personal data that we collect through the site, through enquiry forms and through course administration, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

We are not a broadcaster, a television channel, a platform operator or an agent for any broadcaster, production company or technology vendor. Where our courses refer to equipment, software or services made by other companies, that reference is made for teaching purposes only. It does not mean that we act on their behalf, and it does not mean that they endorse us or that we endorse them.

3. Legal Form, Registration Details, Tax Identifiers, Licences and Responsible Representatives

wordixa is a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales. A private limited company is a separate legal entity: it can enter into contracts, own property and be held liable in its own name, and the liability of its members is limited in the way permitted by United Kingdom company law. The key non-contact legal identifiers for the operator are set out below.

  • Company Registration Number: 02867466
  • VAT Registration Number: GB 645 085 923
  • Country of incorporation: England and Wales
  • Register: Companies House, the United Kingdom registrar of companies
  • Legal form: private limited company

These identifiers are published so that you can identify the operator unambiguously, verify our status on the public register, and quote the correct reference if you need to correspond with us or with a regulator. Company information held by Companies House, including the names of the responsible representatives, is available to the public.

3.1 Tax treatment

We are registered for Value Added Tax in the United Kingdom under the number shown above. Course prices are quoted inclusive of VAT where VAT applies. A VAT invoice is issued for every chargeable supply, and business customers who need a VAT invoice for their records should tell us at the time of booking so that the correct company details appear on the invoice.

3.2 Licences and regulated activity

The delivery of commercial training in media production, camera operation and control-room practice does not, in itself, require a specific licence, authorisation or professional registration in the United Kingdom. No such licence is claimed on this website. Where a course takes place on premises operated by another organisation, we comply with that organisation's site rules, insurance requirements and health and safety arrangements. We do not provide legal, engineering, financial or safety certification services, and any certificate we issue records attendance and successful completion of our own training only.

3.3 Responsible representatives

The people responsible for the management of the company are its directors. Their details are filed with Companies House and are available for public inspection. Directions, formal notices and correspondence of a legal nature should be addressed to the directors at the registered office shown in section 4.

4. Registered Office and Available Contact Details

The registered office of wordixa is BT Tower, 60 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 4JZ, United Kingdom. The registered office is the address at which formal correspondence and legal documents are properly served on the company. If you need to send something to us by post, please use that address and make it clear on the envelope which department or which course the item relates to.

Day-to-day enquiries are best made through the contact form on the Contacts page of this website, which is monitored during normal United Kingdom business hours. You may also reach us by email at mediaandbroadcast@bt.com or by telephone on 0800 679 060. Where a course is in progress, urgent operational matters should be raised with the course leader in the training environment so that they can be dealt with in real time.

The website uses a site-wide cookie banner to obtain and record your consent for optional cookies and similar technologies. Details of what is stored, for how long and on what legal basis are set out in the Cookie Policy. We do not publish individual staff members' direct contact details on this page, and we ask that you use the routes described here rather than any address you may find elsewhere, so that your message reaches the right team.

5. Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of the Website

The purpose of this website is to describe our training courses, allow prospective students to assess whether a course is suitable for them, and enable them to book a place. The site also provides practical information about how our courses are delivered, what equipment and prior knowledge are needed, and how the training maps onto the workflows used in live production.

The intended audience includes media professionals who want to extend their skills; camera operators, vision mixers, technical operators and gallery staff; engineers and technicians moving into live production roles; students of film, television and media studies; corporate communications, marketing and events teams who produce or commission live content; and organisations that need their staff trained to operate control rooms and feeds reliably. The audience is not limited to the United Kingdom: visitors from other countries are welcome, although courses are delivered in English and are priced in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise.

The content of this site is educational and informational. It describes our services and general practice in live production. It is not technical, engineering or legal advice for a particular installation, and it is not a guarantee that a specific configuration will work in a specific building. Anyone planning a live production should have the design reviewed by appropriately qualified engineers.

6. Rules for Access to and Acceptable Use of the Website

You may browse this website and use it for lawful purposes connected with your own interest in our courses. In return, we ask you to observe the following rules.

  • Do not use the site in a way that breaches any applicable law or regulation, or that infringes the rights of any other person.
  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, its administrative areas or any data held by us or by other users.
  • Do not use automated tools to scrape, harvest, mirror, index excessively or otherwise extract the content of the site or of any course materials, except with our prior written consent or where the law expressly permits it.
  • Do not introduce viruses, malware, denial-of-service traffic or any other harmful code, and do not interfere with the normal operation of the site or the security of those who use it.
  • Do not remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice.
  • Do not misrepresent your identity or your qualifications when making an enquiry or a booking, and do not book a place for someone else without telling us.
  • Do not reproduce, sell, resell, publish or make available to third parties any course material, recording or workbook supplied to you, other than for your own personal study.
  • Do not record, photograph or stream any part of a course, or any control room or production environment you visit as part of a course, unless you have our express permission and any permission required from the operator of the venue.

We may suspend or withdraw access to the site, decline a booking or terminate a course place where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, where it is necessary to protect other participants or third parties, or where we are required to do so by law. Courses are intended for adults. Where a course is advertised as suitable for younger participants, the booking must be made by a parent, guardian or sponsoring organisation, and we may ask for confirmation of the supervision arrangements.

7. Ownership and Permitted Use of Website Content, Trademarks and Other Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, course descriptions, diagrams, photographs, video, audio, curricula, workbooks, slide decks, exercises and the underlying course design, is owned by wordixa or is used by us under licence. It is protected by copyright, database rights, design rights and other intellectual property rights under the law of the United Kingdom and, where applicable, international treaties.

The name wordixa and any associated logos, course names and straplines are trademarks or trading names of the operator. Nothing on this website grants you any right to use them. You must not use our names or branding in a way that suggests affiliation with, sponsorship by or endorsement from us where none exists.

7.1 What you may do

You may view, download and print individual pages for your own personal, non-commercial reference, and you may share a short quotation from this site with a clear acknowledgement of the source. You may link to our home page in a way that is fair, honest and does not damage our reputation or misrepresent your relationship with us.

7.2 What you may not do

You may not copy, adapt, translate, republish, frame, mirror, distribute, sell, licence or exploit any substantial part of this website or of our course materials, whether in original or modified form, without our prior written permission. Requests for permission, for press use or for institutional licences should be sent to mediaandbroadcast@bt.com. We normally respond to properly explained requests within a reasonable period, and we reserve the right to refuse.

If you send us feedback, suggestions or comments, we may use them to improve our courses without obligation or payment, but we will not publish your name alongside them without your consent.

8. Accuracy, Availability and Proportionate Limitations of Liability

We take reasonable care to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date, and to describe our courses honestly, including their prerequisites and their limits. Even so, the site is provided on an "as available" basis. Course schedules, venue arrangements, the equipment used in demonstrations and the delivery format may change for operational reasons, and live production environments are by their nature subject to change at short notice.

We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, or that it will always be available from every device or location. Access may be suspended for maintenance, updates, security work or causes beyond our control.

8.1 Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity or loss of anticipated savings arising from your use of this website or from reliance on its general content. Where we are liable to a business customer in connection with a course booking, our total liability is limited to the fees paid for the course concerned, except where the law does not permit such a limitation.

Nothing in this page excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of terms implied by law that cannot be excluded, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other consumer legislation are unaffected by anything on this page.

8.2 Events outside our control

We are not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, including power failures, network outages, failure of third-party platforms, severe weather, industrial action, venue closures or public health restrictions. Where such an event affects a course, we will contact booked participants and offer a transfer to another date or a refund in accordance with the Payment and Refund Policy.

9. External Links and Third-Party Content

This website may refer or link to websites, videos, tools or documents operated by other organisations, for example equipment manufacturers, broadcasters, standards bodies or training partners. Those references are provided for convenience and context. We do not control those resources, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices.

A link does not mean that we endorse the linked site, and the absence of a link does not mean that we disapprove of it. When you follow a link, you leave our site and become subject to the terms and policies of the other operator. You should read those documents before relying on anything you find there.

Where third-party content is embedded in our pages, that provider may set cookies or collect technical information about your device. Our Cookie Policy explains which optional technologies are used on this site and how consent is managed through the site-wide banner. We are not responsible for third-party content that we do not host and cannot control, but we will act promptly if we are notified that something we link to is unlawful or clearly unsuitable.

10. Data Protection, UK GDPR and Your Privacy Rights

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the controller of that data. In practice, this means that we decide why and how your information is used, and we must be able to explain that to you and to the Information Commissioner's Office.

We collect only what we need: the details you give us when you enquire or book, information needed to deliver and administer a course, records of attendance and assessment, payment and invoicing records, and feedback. We rely on the performance of a contract when processing a booking, on legal obligation for accounting and tax records, on legitimate interests for running and improving our business safely, and on consent for optional communications such as marketing and for optional cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask for data to be erased or processing to be restricted, to data portability, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at mediaandbroadcast@bt.com. We will respond within the period allowed by law, normally within one month, and we may need to confirm your identity first. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the United Kingdom supervisory authority for data protection.

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy, and we apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it. Full details, including any transfers of data outside the United Kingdom and the safeguards used, are set out in the Privacy Policy, which should be read alongside this page.

11. Cookies, PECR and Similar Technologies

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, together with UK data protection law, govern how we may store information on your device and access information stored there. Except for cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to deliver the site securely and to remember whether you have responded to the cookie banner, we ask for your consent before setting anything on your device.

A site-wide cookie banner appears when you first visit. It explains the categories of technology used, allows you to accept or reject optional categories, and records your choice. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the controls provided through the banner, or by clearing the relevant storage in your browser. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent parts of the site from working properly.

We use strictly necessary technologies to keep the site secure and functional and, where you consent, we may use analytics to understand which pages and courses are of interest so that we can improve them. We do not make access to course information conditional on consenting to optional cookies. The Cookie Policy lists each category, its purpose and its typical retention period.

12. Course Bookings, Consumer Contracts and Cancellation Rights

When you book a course as a consumer, you enter into a distance or off-premises contract with us. The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 require us to give you clear information before you commit: the main characteristics of the course, the total price, the arrangements for payment, the dates or times of delivery, and the conditions, time limits and procedures for exercising any right to cancel.

Consumers in the United Kingdom normally have fourteen days from the date of the contract to cancel without giving a reason. However, where a course is scheduled to start within that period and you have asked us in writing to begin delivery early, the cancellation right ends when the service has been fully performed, and if we have already begun delivering the training you may be asked to pay for the proportion supplied. Courses purchased by or on behalf of a business, and bespoke or on-site training tailored to a client's premises, are supplied on business terms set out in the Terms and Conditions.

Prices, VAT, accepted payment methods, deposit arrangements, rescheduling, attendance requirements, transfer to another date, and the circumstances in which refunds are given are all explained in the Payment and Refund Policy. Where a course is cancelled by us, you will be offered a replacement date or a refund. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to a service performed with reasonable care and skill.

13. Cross-References to Other Legal and Policy Documents

This page forms part of a set of documents that together describe the rules that apply to this website and to our courses. You should read them together rather than in isolation.

  • Privacy Policy — who we are as a data controller, what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and how you can exercise your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Cookie Policy — the specific cookies and similar technologies used on this site, their purpose and lifetime, and how consent is collected, recorded and withdrawn under PECR and UK data protection law.
  • Terms and Conditions — the contract between us and you or your organisation when booking a course, including booking procedures, fees, attendance, conduct, intellectual property in course materials, and termination.
  • Payment and Refund Policy — how payments are taken, invoicing and VAT, deposit and instalment arrangements, cancellations by you or by us, transfers, non-attendance, and how refunds are calculated and paid.

Where a booking is made on behalf of a company or other organisation, additional contractual terms may be agreed in writing and will take precedence for that engagement. Nothing in these documents removes rights that United Kingdom law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.

14. Applicable Law, Competent Courts and Consumer Dispute Rights

This website and all associated services are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraph below, any dispute arising from your use of the site or from participation in a course is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Consumers resident in the United Kingdom keep the protections of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and related legislation, including remedies for services that are not performed with reasonable care and skill and protection against unfair terms. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may be entitled to bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction, and nothing in this page removes that right.

We would much rather resolve a problem directly than through formal proceedings. If you are unhappy with a course, a booking or the handling of a complaint, please raise it with us first using the contact routes in section 16. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it and give you a reasoned response. Where a dispute cannot be settled directly, alternative dispute resolution such as mediation through an approved scheme may be available, and a business customer may agree in writing to a particular forum. For data protection complaints, the Information Commissioner's Office is the appropriate regulator, as explained in section 10.

15. Accessibility and Compatibility

We want the information on this site to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or high-contrast settings. We aim to follow recognised good practice for accessible text, headings, contrast and form labelling, and we test the site on current versions of commonly used browsers and mobile devices.

If you need information from this site or from a course in a different format, or if you experience a barrier when booking, please tell us at mediaandbroadcast@bt.com or on 0800 679 060. We will try to provide the information or a reasonable adjustment within a sensible timescale, and we welcome reports that help us improve.

16. Contact Route, Changes to This Page and Last-Updated Statement

Enquiries about this legal information page, requests for permission to reuse content, and notices about the website should be sent through the contact form on the Contacts page of this website, by email to mediaandbroadcast@bt.com, by telephone on 0800 679 060, or by post to BT Tower, 60 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 4JZ, United Kingdom. Formal legal notices should be addressed to the directors at the registered office shown in section 4.

We may update this page from time to time to reflect changes in the law, in our business practices, in the courses we offer or in the way the site works. The version published here is the current one, and the date shown at the top of the page changes whenever we amend it. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use of the website after an update means that you accept the revised version.

This page was last updated on 6 November 2026.
